 |
| The church needs to be
free of active conflict. |
|
| Church leaders should
believe that money is an instrument to accomplish much
good in the world, and not a "necessary evil." |
|
| Church leaders need to
keep open minds in reviewing current patterns of congregational
life (how we do things around here), and a willingness
to question long-established practices that may have become
ineffective. |
|
| There needs to be a willingness
to clarify the expectations of membership, including an
expectation of charitable giving. |
|
| Church leaders should
be willing to challenge attitudes of scarcity, as well
as the notion that middle-class congregants are unable
to support the church financially. |
|
| Church leaders should
not let a "We don't have the money" attitude prevail.
|
|
| Church leaders should
not have the keenest minds focused only on institutional
maintenance and governance, but on outreach and mission
efforts as well. |
|
| The church should make
a plan to allocate at least a 10 percent line item in
the budget for outreach and mission. This amount is in
addition to district and denominational dues. |
|
| Leaders should be willing
to lead, and not to take surveys "to find out what people
think" before instituting new policies. |
