I love working with congregations and with
the people who care for them. Religious organizations offer something
very precious that cannot be found in the secular world. As a
consultant to churches of many denominations, I have seen countless
lives changed for the better as people have found a strong faith for
themselves and their families.
My work is with Mainline congregations,
judicatories, and
denominations.
I collaborate with a wide range of clergy, lay leaders, writers,
scholars, and denominational officials in serving my clients.
I've written four books. Creating
Congregations of Generous People is an Alban Institute
best-selling title. Beyond the
Collection Plate was published by Abingdon Press. The Almost Church was published by
Jenkin Lloyd Jones Press. Living a Call: Ministers and Congregations Together is a collection of essays by younger ministers whose views hold promise for the future. These books are in the Recommended
Books section of this website.
I hold a Master's Degree from Harvard University, and have been a
visiting lecturer or speaker at the Vancouver School of Theology in
British Columbia; the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA; and
the College of Preachers at Washington National Cathedral.
